One of the greatest challenges for strategic planning in the legal profession is the fact that so many of the factors are changing rapidly -- some perhaps faster than at any other time in the history of our profession.
This is yet another reason why so many law firms are frustrated by traditional planning tools and methods. They assume that the business of practicing law will continue more or less as it always has.
To be successful today, law firm leaders need to be able to understand and plan for changes in many of the basic factors that previously had remained relatively predictable.
