Human Rights Watch has published a report about the practice of the United States to separate young children who are U.S. citizens from their parents when the parents are deported. Click here for more details.
If these reports are accurate, we lawyers in the United States should use the law and our legal skills to oppose such thuggish behavior. The immigration issues that the U.S. Congress is now confronting should not be further complicated by human rights issues such as the ones raised by the HRW article.
American lawyers and law firms also have a financial interest in the reform of the bizarrely arcane immigration laws and policies of the United States --- because our clients do.
